- Possession of a valid Student Pass is mandatory, as commencing a course with a Visit Visa is not permissible for international students.
- Both international students and universities are required to submit documents through the SOLAR pathway to the immigration authorities.
- Students qualify for a Student Pass if they have received acceptance into an approved Institute of Higher Learning (ILH) in Singapore for a full-time course/program. Part-time, evening, and weekend courses/programs are not eligible.
- Students are exempt from obtaining a Student Pass if the duration of their study course/program is less than 30 days.
What are the requirements for a Singapore Study Visa?
While applying for a Singapore Study Visa, you would be required to gather the following supporting documents:
- A printed copy of the completed eForm16
- Formal admissions letter from your IHL
- SOLAR registration acknowledgment letter from your IHL
- A passport that’s valid for at least 3 months beyond the duration of your stay
- In-Principal Approval (IPA) letter
- A recent passport-sized photograph of yourself
- Certificate of educational achievements and qualifications
- Record of employment history
- Accommodation details for where you’ll be living in Singapore
- Means to pay the online application fee
- Means to pay the student pass collection fee
- Proof of adequate financial resources to cover your living expenses
- Recent medical certificate

What is the process to apply for a Singapore Study Visa 2023?
Here is a simplified step procedure for applying for a Singapore Study Visa.
STEP 1:
Get accepted at an Institute of Higher Learning (IHL). You must enroll in an IHL approved by the Singaporean authorities to be eligible for a Student Pass.
STEP 2:
If eligible, all international students must apply for their Student Pass through the Student’s Pass Online Application System (SOLAR) online service on the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website.
STEP 3:
Once registered, the chosen IHL will send over a personalized application number that you can use to access SOLAR.
STEP 4:
Upon receiving your application reference number, log in to SOLAR and complete the application. Here, you need to fill out what’s known as the eForm16. Make sure to take a copy of the completed forms, as international students applying for a Singapore Study Visa need to present this to the ICA center in Singapore.
STEP 5:
Pay the standardized Singapore Study Visa fee before submitting your application.
STEP 6:
Await a decision on your application. Singapore Study Visa processing time is usually 2 weeks.
STEP 7:
If successful, receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter. The IPA acts as your temporary Student Pass and grants entry into Singapore.
STEP 8:
Upon showcasing your IPA to officials at the port of entry in Singapore, you will be issued a Visit Pass.
STEP 9:
Once you’ve arrived in Singapore, you’ll need to collect your official Student Pass from the ICA center. At this step, you’ll be asked to submit the above-mentioned documents.
